Energy in EducationMinisters Ruairí Quinn and Pat Rabbitte joined forces recently to launch the new ‘Energy in Education’ initiative to help schools manage energy costs and potentially save €6m over the next year. Developed by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), in collaboration with the Department of Education and Skills, the web-based initiative provides a vital service to help schools make energy savings requiring little or no capital expenditure.

The website is designed for use in conjunction with the Energy in Education Pack as part of a range of supports designed to help school boards of management, principals, teachers, administrators, caretaking staff, pupils and parents to improve energy use practices and to reduce school operating costs while helping to protect the environment for future generations. You will find practical guidance on managing energy in your school and information on involving pupils in the process, case studies, training opportunities and funding.
