Europe Code Week

25 - 30 November is Europe Code week and there will be a special emphasis on coding in schools and institutions across Europe. An overview of the week promoted by the Vice President of the EU Commission, Nellie Kross can be accessed at this link.

A dedicated website has been created to support Europe code week at http://codeweek.eu and one of the more interesting features can be seen at http://codeweek.eu/map/ whereby coding events can be highlighted in an interactive map (Google account needed).

They are looking for your assistance to highlight the great work we do here in Ireland and show how progressive we are. A lot of teachers have been trained in the use of Scratch and there is a lot of coding being done in Irish classrooms. It is appreciated that more can be done but that will happen with time.

They are requesting that you please highlight Europe Code week in your schools and timetable special Scratch work/coding for that week. Do not be afraid to highlight your event (no matter how small) in the Europe Code Week interactive map so we can show all the great work we are doing in Ireland.
