With just a day to go to the FÍS Film festival awards ceremony in the Helix which celebrates achievements in film making, excitement is high in participating schools across the country.

Now that finalists have been announced and films published on the FÍS Film project website, participant schools can watch and appreciate all thirty seven films for the first time in advance of the awards ceremony. Indeed, schools are using this as an opportunity to raise awareness of their films both nationally and globally.

Adding to their excitement, this year in particular, is the fact that the awards ceremony is to be streamed live, making it possible for a global and national audience to be part of the celebrations. To acknowledge the hard work and achievement of pupils over the course of the film making process, a very special show is planned.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the highly successful film project which supports the integration of digital media in the classroom.  Over the years the project has succeeded in helping children to develop essential skills in moving-image literacy, communication and teamwork in addition to exploring curricular topics in an engaging and child-centred way.

The result has been that both teachers and children find the experience enriching and rewarding.
