Industry volunteers from Microsoft, UPC and O2 will visit over 15,000 primary school children across Ireland to promote Internet Safety and encourage children and teachers to ‘Discover the digital world together…. safely!’ for Safer Internet Day.

The Talks in Schools programme is designed to be fun and interactive but also raise awareness of some key personal safety issues around sharing personal information online and the importance of making safe secure and strong passwords.  Children taking part in the Talks receive a Family e-Safety Kit, courtesy of UPC and Webwise, to bring the Connecting Generations theme home to their family.

The Family e-Safety Kit contains a Parents’ Guide, games and stickers. It aims to give parents a tool that they can use to help them discuss the key online safety topics in a fun and informative way and ultimately help them to agree rules for internet use in their home.

The theme of SID 2012 is "Connecting Generations" and the interactive presentation by industry volunteers will encourage children and their parents to 'Discover the digital world together...safely!'
