Safer Internet Day 2013

Safer Internet Day 2013 is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer Internet for all users, especially young people, and will be celebrated in Ireland on Tuesday 5th February 2013.

Safer Internet Day is part of a global drive to promote a safer Internet for all users, especially young people. The 10th Safer Internet Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 in many countries across the world, including Ireland. This year, Safer Internet Day, which is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education and Webwise.ie, is urging all net users to “Connect with Respect”.Webwise has suggestions for activities and events that you can hold in your school or classroom to take part in Safer Internet Day 2013. The theme for this year will be online rights and responsibilities.

To mark this year's event, a new campaign will be launched to encourage young people to intervene positively in instances of online bullying.

A new website, www.WatchYourSpace.ie, will be launched and will include tips, help, advice and support to bystanders who want to show their solidarity with victims of cyberbullying.
