Safer Internet Day is part of a global drive to promote a safer Internet for all users, especially young people. The 11th Safer Internet Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11th, 2014 in many countries across the world, including Ireland. Webwise has suggestions for activities and events that you can hold in your school or classroom to take part in Safer Internet Day 2014. The theme for this year will be "Let's create a better internet together".

Children are now as likely to be bullied online as face-to face, according to new research published ahead of Safer Internet Day. The Net Children Go Mobile report by two DIT researchers, found that 13% of young people aged 13-14 had been bullied on a social networking site. It also found that more children are going online on mobile devices, making it more difficult for parents to supervise their internet use.
