The Schools Broadband Network checks inbound http and smtp traffic for viruses. The aim is to try and prevent both new and yet unknown threats and vulnerabilities from gaining access to devices in schools via the internet by preventing and responding to today’s fast-spreading attacks.
However, while this may stop viruses and spyware entering a device in the school via the internet, there are other ways, such as via CDs, USB keys, floppy disks, laptops, etc., that viruses and spyware can enter a device in the school. Schools are recommended to have up-to-date anti-virus software on each device in the school.
