Using Online Tools in the Post Primary Classroom (online)

In this course, you will be introduced to some online tools that you can use to give students some control over their own learning. You will look at how online tools can be used in the classroom to enhance student learning. You will see how to develop instructional videos for your students and how to create a class blog.

PrerequisitesBasic ICT skills. Participants should have experience of carrying out basic ICT tasks (opening, editing, saving, closing files) and be proficient in using an Internet browser.

  • A demonstration of how to use Explain Everything to create short instructional video clips
  • Video exemplars highlighting elements of good practice when using online tools to support active learning
  • Guidance on how a class blog might be used to enhance teaching and learning
  • A demonstration of how to use WordPress to create a blog
  • A demonstration of how to perform basic tasks in Padlet
  • Descriptions of a range of different apps and tools that you can use to support assessment
  • Descriptions of a range of different apps and tools that you can use to create content
  • Subject-specific video exemplars highlighting good practice in the use of digital tools
  • Opportunities to create a short video and devise classroom activities using digital tools.
