Consumer Classroom

Consumer Classroom, supported by the European Commission, launches its second annual Inter-School Competition. All secondary schools across the European Union are invited to take part and use their creativity and team work on the theme of Online Shopping. You have to create a video, multimedia lesson or take photos showing your ideas on the theme of ‘Online Shopping’!

The Competition open to secondary schools (12-18 year old students) across the European Union and is open until 2nd April 2014, midnight, (Central European Time).


Map My School

Enter the Ordnance Survey Ireland "Map My School" competition and win great prizes.

As a class project, make a map of your school and its perimeter, decorate it it as you wish and be as creative as you like. Download the application form from this website, fill in the details and send with your Map to Ordnance Survey Ireland.


Post Primary Languages Initiative - My Ireland: My Area

Learning another language in school? Speak another language at home? Secondary student or know one? My Ireland: My Area is a new competition this month - post an instagram video about your area in any language other than English or Gaeilge - the 10 videos with the most votes will be shortlisted for iPad minis and iTunes vouchers.


Call to Code Competition 2014

Call to Code is a Google sponsored online competition open to students aged 13-18, specifically in Ireland. This friendly competition includes both logic puzzles and programming tasks designed for junior level and senior level cycles.


MEDEA Awards 2014

The aim of the MEDEA Awards is to encourage innovation and good practice in the use of media (audio, video, graphics and animation) in education. The awards also recognise and promote excellence in the production and pedagogical design of media-rich learning resources.

Why not get involved this year? There is plenty of time! Closing date is 30th September 2014.


Doodle 4 Google

Doodle 4 Google Entries have now closed but public voting has now started!

After reviewing thousands of creative doodle submissions the doodle4google team of expert judges has narrowed it down to 75 finalists. It's now up to you to help Google select the 5 class group winners by voting for your favourite doodle. All the submissions can be viewed on their website and are broken down by class group.


Preparing for the AILO 2014 National Final

With less than two weeks to go to the final of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad 2014, the top 100 young problem solvers from 19 counties around Ireland are preparing to take on the languages of the world. Finalists can prepare for the contest, which takes place on 25th March at Trinity College Dublin, by finding out more about linguistics.
