People from across Ireland participated in the celebrations for Safer Internet Day 2021 on February 9th. While circumstances were different this year, hundreds of virtual activities and events took place to help create a safer and better internet for all, especially young people.

Thousands of viewers also tuned in to the Guest Panel Discussion on Managing Online Wellbeing featuring 2FM’s Eoghan McDermott; Cyberpsychologist, Dr Nicola Fox-Hamilton; Public Policy Lead for Kids and Families at Google, Dr Alicia Blum-Ross; All-Ireland winning Dublin Footballer Eamon Fennell, which was hosted by Webwise Youth Advisory panel member Billie Constantinou. The Irish Safer Internet Centre's #BeKindOnline Webinar Series to help empower healthy online behaviour in young people attracted a large audience of parents and teachers.

Safer Internet Day also saw Minister of Justice, Helen McEntee TD, sign the commencement order for the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Bill (Coco’s Law).
