The Minds of Modern Mathematics is an interactive timeline for the iPad. It replicates the famous Charles and Ray Eames timeline from the 1960's (developed on behalf of IBM)....updated for today.   It is a great example of driving broad social engagement through meaningful, relevant content.

In the app, you are invited to explore the history of mathematics through images, stories and video segments all derived from the original Charles and Ray Eames project.  Features include an interactive version of the timeline, the original timeline, ‘century’ and ‘millennium’ views, and a set of nine Eames films produced for IBM, including the IBM Mathematics Peep Show.

This app is only available for the iPad and is free of charge. For more information, visit the app promotional website.

Creative use of multimedia in schools

The Future Classroom Lab course "Creative use of multimedia and devices in the classroom" took place on 24-25 Sep 2012. During the workshop about twenty teachers explored how they can develop their teaching practice through the creative use of multimedia, incorporating the increasing number of different devices available in the classroom into their lessons. The course was led by Kurt Klynen, a senior educational trainer, specialised in multi-media.

Creatorverse is a new two-dimensional shared creative space, a digital canvas on which you can build unique creations, set them in motion, and share them with the world to enjoy and remix. You become an inventor as you draw, stretch, shape, and color your creations, and then add joints, forces, motors, teleporters, and inputs that change how your inventions come to life on the screen.
