Using ICT in History

Video Overview

Interview with Teacher about the use of ICT as a supportive tool in her History classroom. The students are planning, researching and creating their own videos, which they then show to the class. She explains how she uses Minecraft and MatchAttack cards in her lessons and rubrics as a means of assessment.

Description

History teachers discuss how technology has an important impact on the teaching in their classroom. Pupils complete a Celtic project where they design videos asking questions to people of the past. The videos are then shown to older pupils and feedback is given. Pupils use Minecraft to build Megaliths and design their own Matchattack cards for people of the past, using PicCollage on ipads. The teacher uses Rubrics to assess the pupils’ learning. Teacher also discusses the ERERER approach to integrating technology into schools and provides advice for teachers. The staff have created a bank of resources that they share and can use them throughout the year.
