Using ICT to support revision in Business Studies

Video Overview

Interview with Teacher about the use of ICT as a revision tool in her Business Class. The class engaged with online quizzes. They created their own quizzes and then challenged their peers to complete them. She also discusses the benefits of ICT to differentiation in the classroom.

Description

Junior Certificate business pupils work in groups to create Kahoot quizzes as a means of revision. The class is organised into groups and each group is assigned a topic. The group then creates a quiz using the Kahoot application. The pupils administer their own quiz to the class. Teacher uses this lesson as a means of formative assessment. Pupils receive immediate individual feedback while also participating in a competitive group activity. For differentiation, the teacher emails weaker student notes and provides individual support. The teacher finds that the pupils are more engaged and enjoy these lessons as they move away from the original rote learning approach to teaching business.
